Our Client
Our client, a leading quantitative hedge fund with offices globally, is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our growing Legal team as a Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate would come from a private practice background.
Main Duties
The position will primarily involve supporting the legal team's review of counterparty and trading documents including:
Review and negotiation of the firm's key trading documents (e.g. ISDAs, CSAs, GMRAs, MCA, Prime Brokerage Agts, FX PB Agts, Clearing Agts, TRS, Custody Agts, Sponsored Repo etc) and working with external counsel and the trading/operations/risk teams to ensure the list is regularly re-prioritized.
Approving new trading instruments from a legal perspective, answering desk queries and investigating feasibility of trading in new markets e.g., onshore Chinese equities etc
Working with Operations and Business Management teams to improve counterparty onboarding process including helping develop systematic solutions to improve basic processes that cause bottlenecks e.g. KYC, docs approvals and execution, US and EU regulatory undertakings
Digitization and organisation of the firm's trading documentation and related legal workflows
Digesting new regulation and industry changes/initiatives and communicating them to wider business
The role may also involve assisting the global legal team on a wider range of business and project related work including: hedge fund documentation, research and data contracts, NDAs and general business and vendor contracts but the primary focus initially will be management and mastery of the firm's trading documentation.
