Position Overview

As a Competition Associate, you will play a key role in handling a wide range of matters involving UK, EU and international antitrust, cartel, and merger control laws. Working alongside a team of experts across their European offices, you will have the chance to take on meaningful responsibility, conduct your own advocacy where possible and gain valuable exposure to high-profile, cross-border work.

  • ​Work on complex cross-border competition matters across the UK, EU, and beyond.

  • Take on significant responsibility and advocacy opportunities within a tier-one practice.

  • Collaborate with a dynamic team across five European offices in a supportive, positive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a diverse caseload of contentious and non-contentious competition matters

  • Assist with cartel and behavioural investigations, merger control and foreign direct investment

  • Provide antitrust advice to leading financial institutions and top companies

  • Support competition litigation, including private enforcement and appeals

  • Advise on regulatory matters, state aid, public procurement, WTO and trade issues

  • Plan, prioritise and delegate work tasks, updating supervising partners on progress

  • Build strong client relationships through excellent service and communication

Requirements

  • 1-5 PQE in a strong UK or European Competition practice

  • Excellent academic record with at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent)

  • Strong legal skills, including complex drafting, negotiation and project management

  • Ability to manage costs, budgets and understand key drivers of law firm profitability

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with individuals at all levels
