Our client is a leading corporate and institutional bank with international exposure. They are looking for a Sanctions and Transaction Monitoring Officer on a contract basis. Primary responsibility will be to deal with transaction monitoring and sanction screening alerts, covering both automated and manual monitoring.

Your Responsibilities

  • Use subject matter expertise to improve/enhance CEMEA Transaction Monitoring (TM) & Sanctions capability

  • Review and investigate Transaction Monitoring & Sanctions alerts for potentially
    suspicious customer/account behaviour

  • Reviewing alerts that potentially involve PEPs

  • Escalating cases to t h e CEMEA MLRO as required.

  • Complete ad-hoc or periodic reviews of clients and account activity

  • Ensure that an updated knowledge/awareness of industry developments around TM &
    Sanctions Screening is maintained.

  • Ensure TM outcomes inform periodic/event driven reviews of customer risk via the KYC Feedback loop

  • Maintain collaborative working relationship with key stakeholders in branch and across the bank, including 2LoD, 3LoD, CA/CMs and counterparts in Europe.

  • Maintain competency to perform AML 1TM analyst role including completing relevant
    training

  • Complete ad-hoc tasks or project-based work as required by the TM lead or function.

  • Supporting governance around alert handling processes

Competence Requirements

  • Strong sanctions screening competence.

  • AML qualification preferable, but not mandatory – demonstrable experience is key

  • PC skills proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word and advanced use of Excel

  • Good awareness of FCA expectations of transaction monitoring in CIB and Markets environment

  • Demonstrable awareness of UK good practice for AML/CTF transaction monitoring

  • Fluent in English – both oral and written

Experience

  • Strong sanctions experience is a must.

  • Transaction monitoring experience in a UK corporate and institutional banking environment

  • Good working knowledge (as a user) of an automated transaction monitoring system

  • Knowledge of conducting negative news searches and usage of Adverse media tools

  • Identifying high risk factors and recommend solutions

  • Ability to handle challenging and sensitive situations in a confidential and professional manner.
