​Our client a leading bank is looking for an AML Advisory Associate to join their Birmingham team. Regulation, Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) protect the integrity and reputation of the Firm, they manage the Bank’s risks and help to avoid unintentional rule breaches and conflicts of interest. At the same time, they also advise on ethical conduct, governance issues and keep the organisation up-to-date on regulatory and political challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing clients to assess financial crime risks applying a risk based approach

  • Reviewing and completing Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Name List Screening escalations in relation to High Risk customers

  • Reviewing High Risk customers with special risk factors in accordance with local regulations and Deutsche Bank policy

  • Seeking additional information from the business and other infrastructure functions regarding concerns identified through negative news media

  • Providing AML guidance to the First Line Operations and other infrastructure functions on financial crime through the course of day to day business

  • Carrying out other tasks to aid the growth and development of the AFC Advisory function such as Quality Checks for the Business Line AFC team, Controls Assurance, Training, Process and Procedures update


Candidate Profile

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Good general AML knowledge with proven experience working in the financial services industry

  • In-depth understanding of the United Kingdom regulatory environment/policies/legal framework as they relate to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions and Anti-Bribery and Corruption

  • An understanding of financial crime risks

  • An understanding of legal entity structures and organisation

  • An understanding of legal and compliance issues of complex banking organisations

  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable the building of strong, open dialogue-based relationships with relevant stakeholder

  • Should be action oriented with a strong focus on completing tasks with accuracy and efficiency while working independently and with minimum direction

  • Educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience

  • AML qualifications such as Compliance Association Certificate in AML or higher
